Meet the team
We are a small, lively, and passionate bunch who love Jesus and have a heart for those working in the care sector. If you are interested in joining our team as a volunteer or would like more information, do feel free to get in touch. We would love to hear from you!
Lucy Honeysett
Lead Coordinator
Lucy is a nurse and has primarily worked in hospices. Working life began as a carer and this was an amazing experience, but over the years she’s found that carers are at risk of being undervalued despite the precious work they do.
Lucy feels privileged to encourage carers who need to know their worth in Christ and support them as they live and speak for Jesus.
Outside of work, Lucy loves spending time with family and friends, serving in her local church and hunting for treasure in charity shops!
Joshua Field
Founder
Josh has been HR Director for Pilgrims’ Friend Society since March 2021. Pilgrims’ Friend Society has launched Christians in Care and is a charity, rooted in the Christian faith, supporting older people to live fulfilled later lives through residential care homes and housing schemes. Josh wanted to see Christians in Care established after seeing the difference Christians working in the care sector can make.
Josh says “Christians in Care can support Christians working in care and help Christians everywhere to see a career in care as a vocation that should be encouraged and supported. It has been wonderful to connect with people who are working in care, making a difference by living out their faith in often challenging circumstances.
I’m looking forward to seeing more of God at work in and through these people.”
Chris Townsend
Ambassador
Chris Townsend is the Managing Director of The Redwoods Caring Foundation, a local Christian charity that has been supporting adults with learning disabilities in Edinburgh and the Lothians for nearly 40 years. He has worked for Redwoods for over 28 years - seven of these in his current role. Chris got involved with Christians in Care near its conception and has regularly attended the monthly online prayer meetings for leaders in care.
He says, "It has been a joy to get to know other Christian leaders and to be able to pray with and for them as we encourage each other with testimonies and bring the pressing needs of our organisations and the wider health and care sector to our Father. I am looking forward to seeing the network grow significantly over the next year, thanks to Lucy, the Lead Coordinator, who is herself one of our answers to prayer!"
Ruth Clemence
Communications Volunteer
Ruth is a writer based in Cardiff, Wales. She has worked in the health sector as an auxiliary nurse in oncology and has personal experience of caring for family members with additional needs and disabilities.
